Trent Alston, Head of Real Estate
Trent Alston joined Challenger in February 2006 and is Head of Real Estate, responsible for Challenger’s A$10.1 billion* global real estate funds management and investment strategy. Prior to joining Challenger, Trent spent seven years at Colonial First State, most recently in the role of General Manager, Wholesale Funds in the property division and 13 years at Lend Lease in a range of roles in Australia and the UK.
Chris Pak, Executive Director, Real Estate Investments
Chris Pak joined Challenger in 2006 and is responsible for supporting the real estate funds in their service delivery from external contract management, compliance, valuations and asset modelling. Chris has approximately 21 years’ experience in the real estate investment industry, including roles in finance, corporate real estate, shopping centre and asset management with Colonial First State and Westfield.
John Ratcliffe, Executive Director, Real Estate Transactions
John Ratcliffe joined Challenger in January 2008 and is responsible for direct property asset origination and transaction management, including commercial analysis, contract negotiation, legal documentation and the co-ordination of due diligence for potential acquisitions and disposals. Prior to joining Challenger, John was Project Manager & Retail Executive at Niecon Developments.
Paul Skinner, Executive Director, Real Estate
Paul Skinner joined Challenger in April 1997 and is responsible for managing the real estate portfolio of Challenger Life and originating and executing transactions for Funds Management. Paul has held a number of roles within Challenger including asset origination for fixed interest investments, involvement in over A$7 billion of real estate acquisitions.
Chris Forbes, Executive Director, Real Estate Funds and Asset Management
Chris joined Challenger in September 2018 with responsibility for the delivery of asset management services and oversight of Challenger’s external client mandates and separate accounts. Chris brings 25 years of real estate and investment management experience from his prior roles with Dexus, Charter Hall and more recently as Australian Head of Funds Management for LaSalle Investment Management.
Karlyn Maldonado, Head of Development, Real Estate
Karlyn Maldonado joined Challenger in 2006 and is responsible for the direct development management of investments, including management of external development managers and joint venture relationships for property investments across residential, retail, data centre, industrial and commercial sectors.
Prior to joining Challenger, Karlyn worked at Colonial First State Property, being involved in the establishment of Colonial’s A$700 million Hotel Fund.
Tim Evans, Director, Real Estate
Tim Evans joined Challenger in 2004 and has full accountability for CIP Real Estate’s separate account relationships. In this role Tim is responsible for the set-up, management and performance of client mandates with funds under management in excess of A$5.1 billion*. Prior to his current role Tim held the role of Assistant Fund Manager, Challenger Diversified Property Group (CDI).
Brett McCarthy, Director, Real Estate
Brett McCarthy joined Challenger in September 2006 and has specific responsibility for the ongoing management of Challenger’s Japanese real estate portfolio.
Prior to joining Challenger, Brett was a Director at UBS Investment Bank in Japan and Australia for seven years. Brett has lived for a total of nine years in Japan, and speaks and reads Japanese.
Warwick Mancini, Director, Real Estate
Warwick Mancini joined Challenger in March 2013 and is responsible for global investor relations, sourcing capital, originating and executing transactions across the real estate, fixed income and credit sectors. Warwick was previously employed in Credit Suisse’s hedge fund advisory business, at AMP Capital Limited as the Head of Investment Specialists for Unlisted Assets and before that in New York and London for 11 years in investment banking and legal roles.
